Between June 27 and July 1, 2022, the Faculty of Philosophy of the Universtiy of Ljubljana successfully hosted the PRACOMUL International Summer School, Pragmatic Competence and E- Learning, the first of three planned multiplier events within the Erasmus+ PRACOMUL Pragmatic Competence from a Multilingual Perspective project (2020 -1-BE02-KA203-074742). The organizing committee was led by Professor Dr. Barbara Pihler Ciglič (coordinator and leader of the PRACOMUL team in Slovenia) and collaborated with Dr. Gemma Santiago Alonso and Dr. Damjan Popic, assistant Vita Veselko and students Jesika Kustec and Alexander Centa. All events took place simultaneously live and on-line. Most activities were conducted in Spanish, while the program on Thursday, June 30, was conducted entirely in English. To promote the event, a website was prepared on the page of the Departament of Romance Languages and Literatures, an event on Facebook and Instagram and news on the websites of the University of Ljubljana  and the Faculty of Arts (UL) and digital plattformas Infoling and Comun.es.

The International Summer School PRACOMUL was attended by more than 130 participants, of which more than 70 joined the presentations online (which we are particularly pleased about, since that is how colleagues from Spain, Italy, France, Morocco, Poland, Russia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil and South Africa could follow us) and more than 60 on the faculty premises (among them colleagues from other universities, students and alumni, Slovenian primary and secondary school teachers, retired colleagues.. .).

At the opening of the event, the participants were welcomed by the vice-dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, Dr. Mojca Smolej, the head of the Department of Languages and Literature Romances, Dr. Katarina Marinčič, and the Deputy Spanish Ambassador, D. Remón Miranzo. Likewise, on Wednesday June 27, 2022, we were accompanied in the afternoon by the ambassador of Spain in Slovenia, D. Juan de Aristegui Laborde.

The program of the PRACOMUL International summer school consisted of 30 hours of lectures, presentations and workshops, prepared by 16 professors and doctoral students from Slovenia, Spain, Belgium and Italy. The plenary conference, Discourse Markers – Opening frame and Reformulation, was held by Prof. Dr. Catalina Fuentes Rodríguez of the University of Sevilla. Prof. Dr. Barbara Pihler Ciglič from the University of Ljubljana opened the second day with the presentation about Pragmatic and Tactics Strategies in Oral Discourse of Spanish as a Foreign Language, Prof. Dr. An Vande Casteele started the third day with the presentation about Discourse markers and language learning while the Prof. Dr. Carla Prestigiacomo problematized the translation of the discursive markers.

In the fall, all participants of the International Summer School will be invited to register on the PRACOMUL platform and actively participate in the construction of a corpus of Spanish spoken as a foreign language.
